RIO VERDE, Ariz. – The women's golf team climbed four spots on Saturday and will open the final round of the 2015 Rio Verde Invitational in 12th on the par-72, 6,215-yard White Wing Golf Course.
The Zips posted a round of 300 (+12), tied for the fifth-best round on the day, and closed play with a 36-hole tally of 614 (+38). Akron is just 10 shots out of the top-five entering the final round. Seton Hall maintained its day-one lead with a two-day score of 594 (+18).
Laura Murray and Sierra Everson led the way for Akron, posting rounds of 1-over 73. Murray is tied for 16th place (150, +6) while Everson climbed 29 spots into a tie for 56th place (156, +12). The round of 73 was a career-low for Everson.
Frida Fougberg and Pader Her are tied for 38th place after two rounds, posting scores of 154 (+10). Fougberg posted a 3-over 75 while Her carded a round of 7-over 79.
Mallory Etcheberry rounded out the scoring-five in 90th place with a two-round score of 164 (+20). Etcheberry posted a round of 80 (+8) on Saturday.
