RIO VERDE, Ariz. – The women's golf team opened the 2015 Rio Verde Invitational in 16th place on Friday on the par-72, 6,215-yard White Wing Golf Course.
The Zips posted a round of 314 (+26) to finish nine shots outside the top-10. Seton Hall leads the field by three shots after posting a round of 296 (+8).
Pader Her led the way for Akron with a round of 75 (+3) and sits in a tie for 21st place after round one.
Laura Murray finished two shots behind Her, carding a 5-over 77 and is tied for 42nd place.
Frida Fougberg carded a round of 7-over 79 and is tied for 59th place while Sierra Everson is tied for 85th place with a score of 83 (+11).
Mallory Etcheberry rounded out the scoring-five in a tie for 90th place (84, +12).
