FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Akron women's golf team concluded the FGCU Eagle Invitational in eighth place on Sunday at the par-72, 6,135-yard Stoneybrook Golf.
The Zips posted a final-round 312 (+24) to finish with a three-day score of 948 (+84). Elon led wire-to-wire to win the invitational with a 54-hole tally of 901 (+37).
Pader Her and Laura Murray posted top-25 finishes, ending the weekend tied for 16th and tied for 24th, respectively. Her carded a 4-over 76 to finish with a final score of 233 (+17). Murray moved into the top-25 thanks to a round of 5-over 77, good for a three-round score of 237 (+21).
Frida Fougberg struggled on the final day, slipping just out of the top-25 after a final-round 83 (+11). She finished tied for 26th place (238, +22).
Mallory Etcheberry tied her career-low round, firing a 4-over 76 to climb 18 spots into a tie for 46th place (244, +28), while Sierra Everson rounded out the scoring-five in a tie for 56th place (248, +32). Everson posted a final-round 83 (+11).
Lesli Stolly and Alejandra Velasco-Villanueva, playing as individuals, finished tied for 74th (265, +49) and 81st (270, +54), respectively.
The Zips will have nearly a month off, returning to action on March 13 when they travel to Arizona for the Rio Verde Invitational
