FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Akron women's golf team climbed three spots on Saturday thanks to solid rounds by Laura Murray and Frida Fougberg on day two of the FGCU Eagle Invitational at the par-72, 6,135-yard Stoneybrook Golf.
Murray posted a 4-over 76 while Fougberg posted a 5-over 77 to help the Zips move into seventh place with a round of 312 (+24). Akron will enter Sunday's final round with a 36-hole tally of 636 (+60). Elon maintained its day-one lead with a two-round score of 598 (+22).
Fougberg and teammate Pader Her sit inside the top-25, with Fougberg tied for 16th (155, +11) and Her tied for 22nd (157, +13). Her posted a round of 7-over 79 on Saturday.
Sierra Everson ended the day tied for 57th place (165, +21) after posting a round of 80 (+8) while Mallory Etcheberry rounded out the scoring-five in 64th place (168, +24). Etcheberry carded a round of 12-over 84.
Alejandra Velasco-Villanueva, playing as an individual, posted a round of 10-over 82 to move into a tie for 75th place (177, +33). Lesli Stolly, also playing as an individual, is tied for 79th place after her round of 96 (+24).
