FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Akron women's golf team opened the FGCU Eagle Invitational in 10th place on Friday at the par-72, 6,135-yard Stoneybrook Golf.
The Zips posted a round of 36-over 324 as Frida Fougberg and Pader Her closed play inside the top-20. Elon held the round-one lead with a score of 292 (+4).
Fougberg and Her posted rounds of 6-over 78 to end day one in a tie for 19th place.
Laura Murray and Mallory Etcheberry posted rounds of 12-over 84 and will open play on Saturday in a tie for 60th place. Sierra Everson rounded out the scoring-five in a tie for 66th place (85, +13).
Lesli Stolly and Alejandra Velasco-Villanueva, playing as individuals, are in 69th and tied for 80th place, respectfully. Stolly carded a round of 86 (+14) while Velasco-Villanueva finished with a 95 (+23).
Play will continue on Saturday with an 8 a.m. ET shotgun start. Fans can follow all of the action via BirdieFire Live Scoring.
