Akron Volleyball Earns Seven Academic All-MAC Selections

CLEVELAND — Seven Akron women's volleyball student-athletes earned Academic All-Mid-American Conference honors, the league announced on Wednesday.
Representing the Zips were junior S Ashley Holder (Chicago, Ill.), sophomore S Karley Kusan (Columbus, Ohio), sophomore DS Brenna Mack (Mound, Minn.), sophomore DS Callie Mack (Mound, Minn.), sophomore MB Julie Shallman (Holt, Mich.), sophomore OH Julia Smagacz (Libertyville, Ill.), and junior MB Kelsey Wilson (Ferndale, Mich.).
The Mack twins and Smagacz each carried a perfect. 4.00 grade-point average.
A total of 68 student-athletes were named to the team from the 2014 season.
To qualify for the Academic All-MAC Teams, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests in the particular sport.
