Women's Golf Finishes in 14th Place at Cardinal Cup

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. – The University of Akron women's golf team closed the 2014 Cardinal Cup in 14th place on Tuesday at the par-72, 6,223-yard University of Louisville Golf Course.
The Zips concluded the week with a three-round score of 946 (+82) after posting a final-round 312 (+24). Tournament-host Louisville came from behind to win the tournament with a 54-hole tally of 888 (+24).
Frida Fougberg was the top performer for the Zips, carding a 1-over 73 to climb 20 spots and finish tied for 18th place. She concluded the tournament with a total score of 11-over 227 to earn her second top-20 finish in as many events.
Laura Murray finished in a tie for 50th place (235, +19) after her round of 79 (+7) on Tuesday.
Pader Her continued her round-by-round improvement during the event, posting a 5-over 77 to end the day in a tie for 59th (237, +21). She improved her score by two strokes each round over the final two rounds.
Sierra Everson closed play in a tie for 90th (250, +34) while Alejandra Velasco-Villanueva rounded out the scoring-five tied for 95th place (257, +41).
Mallory Etcheberry, playing as an individual, finished in 99th place with a score of 271 (+55).
The Zips return to the course on October 3 when they travel to State College, Pa., for the Nittany Lion Invitational.
