Women's Golf Sits in 14th Place After Day One of the Cardinal Cup

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. – The University of Akron women's golf team is in 14th place through 36 holes at the Cardinal Cup at the par-72, 6,223-yard University of Louisville Golf Course.
The Zips closed the day with a score of 634 (+58) after carding rounds of 323 (+35) and 311 (+23). Middle Tennessee leads No. 44 Louisville by nine strokes with a 36-hole tally of 584 (+8).
Frida Fougberg was the top performer for the Zips on day one, closing play in a tie for 38th place (154, +10). She posted a 7-over 79 to open the day, but rebounded with a 3-over 75 during the afternoon round.
Laura Murray carded back-to-back rounds of 6-over 78 to finish two shots back of Fougberg in a tie for 47th place (156, +12).
Pader Her is tied for 69th place with a two-round score of 160 (+16) after rounds of 81 (+9) and 79 (+7), while Sierra Everson, playing in her first event of the year, is in 91st place (166, +22). Everson posted rounds of 87 (+15) and 79 (+7).
Alejandra Velasco-Villanueva rounded out the scoring-five in 98th place with a score of 174 (+30). Mallory Etcheberry, playing as an individual, is in 99th place with a tally of 176 (+32).
