UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Frida Fougberg posted her second top-three finish of the season and Pader Her tied the career-low round of her young collegiate career to lead the University of Akron women's golf team to a tie for seventh place at the 2014 Nittany Lion Invitational on Sunday.
Fougberg fired a round of 1-over 73 to finish in a tie for third place with a 54-hole score of 4-over 220. She finished just two shots behind the tournament winner and has now posted three top-20 finishes in as many events.
As a team, the Zips posted a score of 303 (+15) to finish tied with Mid-American Conference foe Western Michigan for seventh place (914, +50). Columbia won the event with a three-day score of 894 (+30).
Her posted her second top-25 finish of the year, carding an even-par 72 to complete a 35-spot climb up the leaderboard over the last two days. She ended play tied for 23rd place with a total score of 229 (+13).
Laura Murray finished the weekend tied for 37th place (233, +17) after her final-round 81 (+9), while Alejandra Velasco-Villanueva concluded play tied for 45th place (235, +19). Velasco-Villanueva ended the day by posting a score of 79 (+7).
Mallory Etcheberry concluded play in 76th place (252, +36) after her round of 79 (+7) while Sierra Everson rounded out the squad in a tie for 81st place (256, +40).
The Zips will conclude their fall schedule when they travel to Port Clinton, Ohio, for the Rocket Classic, which is set for Oct. 13-14.
