Women's Golf Sits Inside the Top Five at Rocket Classic

PORT CLINTON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's golf team was one of the teams to complete their second round before darkness put a stop to play during day one of the Rocket Classic on the par-72, 5,884-yard Catawba Island Club.
The Zips concluded play in fifth place, as three teams will have to finish their second round prior to Tuesday's final round. The Zips posted scores of 30-over 318 and 31-over 319 to finish with a combined score of 637 (+61). Tournament-host Toledo leads the field by nine shots with a score of 599 (+23).
Frida Fougberg paced the Zips on day one, closing play in a tie for seventh place. She posted rounds of 3-over 75 and 6-over 78 to end the day with a tally of 153 (+9).
Laura Murray ended the day inside the top 25, concluding her second round in a tie for 25th place (158, +14). She carded rounds of 4-over 76 and 10-over 82.
Mallory Etcheberry is tied for 32nd place (161, +17). She opened the day with a round of 85 (+13) before rebounding with a career-low round of 4-over 76.
Pader Her and Lesli Stolly are tied for 47th place with identical scores of 166 (+22). Her posted back-to-back rounds of 83 (+11), while Stolly, making her first appearance of the season and playing as an individual, posted scores of 80 (+8) and 86 (+14).
Alejandra Velasco-Villanueva rounded out the scoring-five in a tie for 67th place. She concluded play with a score of 174 (+30).
