As a result, the Zips men and women swept the competition in dual meet scoring. The men posted wins over Ashland (101.00-91.00), Kent State (106.00-85.00) and Youngstown State (126.00-56.00) while the women defeated Ashland (123.00-66.00), Bowling Green (125.00-40.00), Kent State (100.00-85.00) and Youngstown State (122.00-62.00).
Leading the long list of winners was Skyler Willis, who smashed the school record in the 400-meter hurdles with a winning time of 1:00.85. The sophomore's mark easily surpassed the program's previous all-time record of 1:01.40, established by Siobahn Counts in 2004, and stands as the third-best mark in the MAC this season. It was a busy weekend overall for Willis who also placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.03 and ran the second leg of the 4x400-meter relay team that finished runner-up with a collective time of 3:53.11.
Of the remaining 10 event wins, six came from the men's team.
After breaking the school's outdoor record in the men's pole vault last week at the Texas Relays, Shawn Barber achieved the third-best jump in program history with a winning mark of 17-08.50. Also on the women's side, Gabriela Szkolnicka won the high jump with the fifth-best mark in school history (5-10.50) and Alexis Cooks just missed the school's top-five list with a winning toss of 174-02 in the discus. Cooks' throw leads the MAC while Szkolnicka's jump is second-best in the conference.
The Zips also enjoyed a sweep of the 3,000-meter run as Kyle Cochrun cruised to the win on the men's side with a time of 8:37.13 and Sarah Baker did the same in the women's competition, posting a mark of 10:34.92.
