Rifle Travels to Rose-Hulman on Saturday for Dual Compeition

AKRON, Ohio – The No. 15 University of Akron rifle team heads to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Saturday for a dual competition at Cook Stadium.
The Zips marksmen have had a short break since their last competition, which was against Columbus State (Ga.) at home on Nov. 11. Akron defeated Columbus State by a final tally of 4600-4547.
In the contest, UA captured the top three slots with sophomore Tim Hopkins maintaining his success this season with top gun honors at 574 points. Teammates Matt Chezem (572) and Zach Strohl (571) rounded out the top three scores for the head-to-head matchup with Columbus State.
Akron currently owns a 3-1 record in dual competitions this fall, with wins coming against Nevada-Reno (4584-4579), Morehead State (4586-4552) and Columbus State. The Zips lone loss occurred against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Oct. 13 by a score of 4645-4606.
Following the competition at Rose-Hulman, the Zips will have a break until Jan. 26, when they will head to Palmyra, Pa., for the 15th annual Palmyra Invitational.
