AKRON, Ohio -- The University of Akron women's soccer team hosts a pair of Mid-American Conference matches this weekend at FirstEnergy Stadium - Cub Cadet Field. On Friday, the Zips will attempt to break the MAC women's soccer attendance record as they host Northern Illinois at 7:30 p.m. Sunday is "Kick for the Cure" Day as the Zips will promote cancer awareness in their game against Toledo. Kickoff versus the Rockets is set for 1 p.m.

The Match ups ...
• Akron enters its first two home conference matches with an overall record of 4-5-0 and a Mid-American Conference mark of 0-2-0 after falling on the road to Miami (4-1) and Ball State (2-1) last weekend.
• Northern Illinois is 4-4-1 on the season and 0-1-1 in the MAC. The Huskies opened MAC play with a 1-0 loss against Eastern Michigan and then tied Western Michigan, 0-0, in double overtime.
• Toledo is 2-7-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the MAC. The Rockets travel to Buffalo on Friday prior to playing Akron on Sunday. Toledo tied Western Michigan, 0-0 (2 OT), in its MAC opener and then fell at home to Eastern Michigan, 3-0, last weekend.
• The Zips and NIU will meet for the 12th time overall in women's soccer and Akron's all-time record against the Huskies is 4-6-1. During the last four years, the two teams have exchanged 1-0 wins every other year, with Akron winning last year on Sept. 30, 2011 in DeKalb, Ill.
• Akron and Toledo will be meeting for the 12th time in women's soccer as the two teams have met every year since 2001. Toledo holds a 9-1-1 series advantage against the Zips. Akron's lone win in the series came in 2008, while the Zips and Rockets tied 2-2 in double overtime last season in Toledo on Oct. 9, 2011.
• The Zips are 11-4-1 in MAC East play since 2009 and have qualified for the last three MAC Tournaments.
Scouting the Huskies…
• Northern Illinois has scored 10 goals and allowed just seven so far this season. Cori Frankenburg leads the offense with 10 points on four goals and two assists. Lauren Noonan also has two assists, while Shelbi Johnson and Allie McBride each have three points (1g, 1a). In goal, Amy Carr has four shutouts and has allowed just six goals for a 0.70 goals against average.
Scouting the Rockets …
• Toledo has been out-scored by its opponents, 15-6, through 10 games. Rachel MacLeod leads the offense with three goals for six points. In goal, Kelsey Borowitz has started seven games and has allowed 11 goals while making 20 saves.
Zips to Watch ...
• Freshman forward Megan Waskowski is tied for the team lead in goals (three), assists (three) and points (nine). Waskowski was named to the all-tournament team at the Tennessee Lady Vol Classic after netting two assists against VCU.
• Senior forward Ashley Hughes has appeared in 60 career matches for the Zips and is tied with Waskowski with team-highs of three goals, three assists and nine points. She had a hand in both Akron goals last weekend as she scored against Miami and assisted Karina Atkinson's goal at Ball State.
• Like Hughes, senior midfielder Katie Wise has plenty of experience as she has also appeared in 60 career matches. Wise has eight career goals to her credit.
• Junior midfielder Kelly DeNiro had a career-high three points on a goal and an assist at Cleveland State. DeNiro was also selected to the all-tournament team at Tennessee.
• Junior defender Amber Kern was a second team All-MAC selection in 2011 when she started all 18 games and helped the UA defense notch eight shutouts. Kern also had an assist against in Akron's season opener Morehead State.
Zips in the Record Books ...
• Katie Wise is tied for 10th in UA history in career scoring with 17 points. Wise's eight career goals is tied for eighth and her five game-winning goals is fifth.
• Kelly DeNiro's eight career assists ranks tied for fifth in Akron women's soccer history. DeNiro is also ninth in career shots (68).
• Ashley Hughes is tied for eighth with eight career goals and is tied for eighth with 20 career points. She is also tied for sixth with four career game-winning goals and seventh in career shots with 85.
