Women's Soccer Begins Preseason Training

AKRON, Ohio -- The University of Akron women's soccer team was the first fall sports team to report to campus, as the team, comprised of 32 student-athletes, went through a series of season-opening meetings and administrative tasks Tuesday and began preseason training and fitness on Wednesday morning.

Interim Head Coach Vernon Croft and the Zips' two and a half week preseason schedule includes a pair of exhibition matches - a home game against Duquesne this Sunday, Aug. 5 and an away contest at West Virginia on Friday, Aug. 10. This Sunday's exhibition match against Duquesne at FirstEnergy Stadium – Cub Cadet Field is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and is free for all fans to attend.

The 2012 regular season begins on Friday, Aug. 17 when the Zips host Morehead State at 5 p.m., as a part of an Akron soccer doubleheader. Following the women's match against Morehead State, the UA men have an exhibition game against Wright State at 7:30 p.m.
