Men's Golf Tied for Third Place at Memphis Intercollegiate

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Akron men's golf team, led by Ryan Mason, is tied for third place after 36 holes on Monday at the 2012 Memphis Intercollegiate on the par-72, 7,334-yard Colonial Country Club South Course.
The Zips posted rounds of 13-over 301 and 10-over 298 to finish the day as one of three teams – Memphis and Vanderbilt – with a two-round tally of 23-over 599. Kennesaw State, the No. 41 team in the Golfstat rankings, closed the day with a score of 17-over 593.
Mason finished the day tied for second place thanks to rounds of 71 and 73 for a score of 2-over 144, and is one shot off the lead.
Cameron Simmons used rounds of 76 and 74 to conclude the second round in a tie for 14th place (150, +6). Scott Landreth and Charlie Bull are two and three shots behind Simmons respectively. Landreth is tied for 27th place at 8-over 152 (78-74) while Bull is in a group at 9-over 153 (76-77) and tied for 30th place.
Tim Lew rounded out the scoring five in 69th place following round of 89 and 80 (169, +25).
Akron will look for its first win of the season tomorrow morning when the squad begins the final round on the first tee. Tee times are set to begin at 9 a.m. ET.
