Softball Doubleheader Against St. Francis (Pa.) Rescheduled

AKRON, Ohio – The doubleheader between the Akron softball team and St. Francis (Pa.), originally scheduled for April 10 at St. Francis, has now been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 25, at Lee R. Jackson Field.
The Zips (17-26-1, 3-11 MAC) and the Red Flash (21-21, 8-8 NEC) where originally scheduled to replay the series in Loretto, Pa., but recent snowfall forced the series to be played in Akron.
First pitch for the twin bill is set for 3 p.m. ET, with the second game set for a 5 p.m. start. All Akron softball games are free to the public. Fans unable to attend the games can watch the action live online via mac-sports.com. Fans can also follow the live stats from each contest by visiting the softball schedule page on GoZips.com and clicking on the "Live Stats" link next to each game.
Akron enters the series following a sweep of Northern Illinois over the weekend courtesy of 8-6 and 12-6 wins. The Zips have scored 33 runs in their last six games (3-3), compared to just 13 runs in the previous six games (1-5).
The Red Flash enter the game having won five-straight games and are 7-8 overall on the road. Taylor Darneille leads the St. Francis offense, hitting .395 with four home runs and 19 RBI. Brooke Koch heads the pitching staff with a 9-4 record with a 2.27 ERA.
Following the series, Akron will hit the road for its final road trip of the 2012 season when it plays a doubleheader at Eastern Michigan on April 27 and at Central Michigan on April 28-29.
