AIKEN, S.C. – Tim Lew posted a final-round 74 to finish in a tie for 28th place to lead the Akron men's golf team to an 11th-place finish at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
Lew finished with a three-round score of 10-over 220 as the Zips concluded the tournament with a two-day score of 891 (+15). Akron posted a round of 299 (+19) during the final round. Clemson earned a one-stroke victory with a tally of 854 (+14).
Cameron Simmons, who started the day tied with Lew, posted a round of 6-over 76 to finish in a tie for 35th place (222, +12).
Charlie Bull finished the event tied for 45th place at 14-over 224 after carding a score of 76 (+6) on Tuesday.
Ryan Mason equaled Lew's round of 74 today, moving up 12 spots to finish tied with teammate Harry Whittle in 65th place. Mason and Whittle finished with three-round scores of 228 (+18) as Whittle closed the week with a 5-over 75.
The Zips return to action on March 12 when they travel to Orlando, Fla., for the two-day Rio Pinar Intercollegiate.
