Men's Golf Tied for Fifth at UCF Rio Pinar Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. – After two rounds on Monday, the Akron men's golf team sits in a tie for fifth place at the UCF Rio Pinar Invitational at the par-72, 7,001-yard Rio Pinar Country Club.
The Zips finished the day with a two-round score of 585 (+9) and are tied with Campbell. UA posted scores of 3-over 291 and 6-over 294. Florida Gulf Coast holds a three-shot lead, closing the day with a two-round score of 13-under 563.
Ryan Mason paced to Akron players inside the top-25, closing play in a tie for 21st place at 1-over 145. He closed the day with a round of 2-under 70 following his opening-round 75 (+3).
Tim Lew also sits in the top-25, entering the final round tied for 24th place. Lew carded rounds of 74 and 72 to finish with a 36-hole tally of 146 (+2).
Charlie Bull had a strong start to the day, posting a 1-under 71, but followed it up with a 4-over 76 to finish tied for 30th at 147 (+3). Cameron Simmons also opened the day with a round of 71 (-1) and now sits tied for 34th place at 4-over 148 after an afternoon round of 77 (+5).
Harry Whittle rounded out the score five in a group at 11-over 155. He opened the day with a round of 7-over 79 before rebounding with a 76 (+4) in round two.
Play will conclude on Tuesday with the final round set to begin at 8:30 a.m. ET. No live scoring will be available for this year's event.
