Rifle Prepares for Two-Match Weekend and Senior Day

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron rifle team rides a two-match win streak into a busy weekend of competition. On Saturday, the squad travels to Ohio State for a 2 p.m. ET contest and on Sunday plays host to Rose Hulman Institute at 9 a.m. in Schrank Hall South.

Sunday also serves as Senior Day for eight Zips who will take to the range for the last home match of their collegiate career.

UA posted a win in its last two dual contests, winning 4580-4342 at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Feb. 4 and 4556-4473 at Virginia Military Institute on Jan. 21.

Against the Coast Guard Academy, Zips sophomore Victoria Brown took top gun honors in both smallbore and air rifle. In the smallbore, she fired a 574 out of a possible 600 and in the air rifle division scored a 582.

The Zips will participate in the NCAA qualifier meet at Ohio State on Feb. 18.
