MADISON, Wisc. – The University of Akron men's and women's cross country teams posted finishes of 11th and 18th, respectively, at the NCAA's Great Lakes Regional on Friday afternoon at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course. The event was hosted by the University of Wisconsin.
The UA men posted 334 points in their 10-kilometer race and the women 525 points on a 6K course. Both squads improved upon their placing at last year's regional, when the men clocked in at 13th and the women 23rd.
The men's team was paced by Kyle Cochrun's 52nd-place time of 32:22. Kyle Wheeler came in 55th at 32:25 and Zachary Goulet 62nd at 32:32.
On the women's side, Kayla Whitlow finished 62nd at 21:43. She was followed by Maria Moore's 22:01 (84th) and Sarah Baker's 22:24 (111th).
