AKRON, Ohio -- The University of Akron women's soccer team wraps up its home schedule with a pair of games this weekend at FirstEnergy Stadium - Cub Cadet Field. The Zips host Western Michigan on Friday at 7:30 p.m. for Senior Night. On Sunday, Akron will square off against Eastern Michigan at 1 p.m. Seniors Ashley Hughes, Kirsten Schulte and Katie Wise will be honored on Senior Night prior to the match against Western Michigan Friday.

The Match ups ...
• Akron enters the weekend with an overall record of 5-10-0 and a Mid-American Conference mark of 1-7-0 after falling at Central Michigan, 2-1, and defeating Bowling Green, 2-0, last weekend.
• Western Michigan is 5-7-3 on the season and 1-3-3 in the MAC. The Broncos lost in overtime, 1-0 to Kent State last weekend, while their match against Ohio on Sunday was called due to unplayable field conditions and will not be rescheduled.
• Eastern Michigan is 8-6-1 overall and 5-3-0 in the MAC. The Eagles travel to Buffalo on Friday prior to playing Akron on Sunday. EMU defeated Ohio, 2-1, but fell to Kent State, 3-0, at home last weekend.
• The Zips and Western Michigan will meet for the 12th time overall in women's soccer. WMU holds a 9-1-1 series advantage over Akron as the lone UA win in the series came at home in 2003. The two squads also tied 1-1 in 2007.
• Akron and Eastern Michigan will be meeting for the 12th time in women's soccer as the two teams have met every year since 2001. The Eagles hold a 7-2-2 series advantage against the Zips, but Akron won last year's match-up by a 3-0 score on Sept. 25, 2011 at FirstEnergy Stadium - Cub Cadet Field.
• The Zips are 12-6-1 in MAC East play since 2009 and have qualified for the last three MAC Tournaments.
Scouting the Broncos …
• Western Michigan has scored 12 goals and allowed 15 so far this season. The Broncos leading scorer is Rachel Chaney, who has four goals and an assist for nine points. Diana Dedvukaj adds two goals and two assists. In goal, Michelle Watson has started all 15 games and has four shutouts.
Scouting the Eagles …
• Eastern Michigan has out-scored its opponents 24-20 through 15 games. The Eagle offense has been led by the trio of Angela Vultaggio (6g, 6a), Cara Cutaia (5g, 7a) and Bianca Rossi (6g, 4a). In goal, Jenna O'Dell has started all 15 games and has five shutouts with a 1.37 goals against average.
Zips to Watch ...
• Senior forward Ashley Hughes has appeared in 66 career matches for the Zips and leads the team in points (20), goals (seven) and assists (six)this season. Hughes has recorded a point in five straight matches and seven out of the last eight.
• Freshman forward Megan Waskowski is second on the team in scoring with 11 points on four goals and three assists. Waskowski was named to the all-tournament team at the Tennessee Lady Vol Classic after netting two assists against VCU. She also scored Friday at Central Michigan.
• Like Hughes, senior midfielder Katie Wise has plenty of experience as she has also appeared in 66 career matches. Wise has eight career goals to her credit and two assists thus far in 2012.
• Junior midfielder Kelly DeNiro is third in scoring for the Zips this season with three goals and three assists. DeNiro was also selected to the all-tournament team at Tennessee and scored both Akron goals against Bowling Green.
• Junior midfielder/defender Amber Kern was a second team All-MAC selection in 2011 when she started all 18 games and helped the UA defense notch eight shutouts. Kern scored her first career goal at Ohio and has also registered two assists this season.
Zips in the Record Books ...
• Ashley Hughes' six assists is a single season school record. Hughes is tied for fourth in UA history with 12 career goals and she is fourth with 31 career points. Her single season point total of 20 (7g, 6a) ranks tied for second in single season scoring and her seven goals is tied for fourth.
• Kelly DeNiro's 10 career assists ranks tied for third in Akron women's soccer history. She is just one short of tying the school record. DeNiro is also eighth in career scoring with 22 points.
• Katie Wise is tied for 11th in UA history in career scoring with 19 points. Wise's eight career goals is ninth and her five game-winning goals is tied for fourth.
