Rifle Set to Open Second Half of Season Saturday at West Virginia

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron rifle team resumes its season on Saturday when it travels to Morgantown, W.Va., to face off against West Virginia at 8 a.m. ET at the WVU Rifle Range.
The match is expected to last into the afternoon. Fans can follow all of the action via live statistics.
The contest will be the Zips' first of the spring semester. The squad closed out the fall component of its schedule on the road on Nov. 20 with a tie versus Morehead State (4555-all).
MSU grabbed the top three spots in the smallbore competition, with sophomore Victoria Brown grabbing fourth in the event with a score of 569 to lead the Zips. Freshman John Hupp's 564 was good for sixth, and senior Ryan Stein placed eighth with a 563.
The Zips rebounded to take the top three spots in the air rifle and outpaced Morehead State, 2301-2283. Senior Zachary Szabo grabbed top honors with a personal-best of 581. Stein was second with a 579, and junior Nicole Dietrich finished third with a 577.
Akron competes at Virginia Military Institute on Jan. 21.
