Men's Golf Finishes Ninth at Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The University of Akron men's golf team posted a ninth-place finish on Sunday following the final round of the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate at the par-71, 7,100-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club.
Middle Tennessee used a round of 5-under 279 to win the event with a three-round score of 844 (-8). The Zips carded a round of 9-over 293 to finish with a three-day score of 866 (+14).
Sophomore Charlie Bull led the way for the Zips for the second-consecutive week, finishing in a two-way tie for sixth place with a score of 3-under 210. He posted a round of 2-over 73 on Sunday.
Senior Ryan Mason equaled Bull's round of 73 (+2) to conclude the second event of the fall in a three-way tie for 31st (218, +5). Senior Scott Landreth carded his lowest round of the tournament on Sunday, firing an even-par 71 to finish tied for 34th place with a three-day tally of 219 (+6).
Junior Cameron Simmons concluded the weekend with a score of 220 (+7), good for a tie for 39th place following his round of 76 (+5). Freshman Harry Whittle wrapped up his first collegiate tournament with a round of 8-over 79 to finish tied for 75th place with a total of 233 (+20).
The Zips return to action on Oct. 1 when they travel to Normal, Ill., for the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate.
