Looking Back...
• Akron was swept in a midweek doubleheader at Ohio
State on Wednesday. The Zips dropped game 1 by a count of 5-0 and
lost 8-1 in game 2. Both contests were 7-inning games.
• Kurt
Gamby drove in the Zips lone run with a RBI double in inning 4
of the second game.
• Eastern Michigan is 19-13 and 5-4 in the MAC after being
swept by Kent St. last weekend. The Eagles won at Cleveland St. on
Tuesday.
• Ken Battison (.355, 20 RBIs) and Brent Ohrman (.341, 19
RBIs) lead EMU at the plate. With 12 homers and 69 doubles the
Eagles are slugging .407 which is 2nd-best in the conference.
• The pitching matchups of yet to be released, but Eastern
Michigan holds a 5.35 staff ERA with opponents hitting .295. Tim
Combs (13 app., 4.09 ERA) and Joe Battistelli (11 app., 6.87) are
the top arms in the bullpen.
• The Eagles hit .261 as a team and hold a team ERA of
4.01.
Schedule Change...
• Friday's series opener at Eastern Michigan has been moved
up to a 3:00 p.m. first pitch.
• Akron finishes off a 6-game road swing next Tuesday at
Munson Stadium in Canton against Malone. The game is set for 6:00
p.m.
• The Zips return home a week from Friday for a 3-game set
with Miami beginning Friday at 3:00 p.m. First pitch is 1:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday and all 3 games are at Lee R. Jackson Baseball
Field.
Brown's Unearned Run Streak...
• Junior Andrew
Brown has been lights out in his last two starts, pitching 19.0
consecutive innings without allowing an earned run.
• Brown pitched 10.0 innings of shutout ball against Toledo
on 4/1 and then allowed 3 unearned runs in last Saturday's game
against Central Michigan
• Against North Dakota State on 3/16, Brown through a
five-hit complete-game shutout to lead the Zips to a 1-0 win over
the Bison. Brown needed just 104 pitches in the outing,
• Brown was named Mid-American Conference East Pitcher of the
Week for his efforts.
• Brown is 2-4 over 8 starts and holds an ERA of 2.51 in a
MAC-high 61.0 IP. Opposing batters are hitting just .186 against
the right-hander.
Backend Bassitt...
• The Akron bullpen is highlighted by junior closer Chris
Bassitt. The hard throwing right-hander has picked up a 4 saves
in 4 opportunities and appeared in 12 non-save opportunities.
• Over 19.0 IP, the Curtice, Ohio native has struck out 25 -
compared to just 9 walks.
• The hard-throwing righty has an ERA of 2.37 this season and
is limiting batters to an average of just .217.

• With 11 appearances this year, senior Benjamin
Danziger has moved into sole possesion of 3rd on Akron's
all-time appearance list. His 67 appearances are 2 behind
second-place Tom Farmer. Patrick Gliha holds the record with 73
appearances from 2004-07.
• Danziger has also moved into eighth on the career innings
pitched list with 238.1. Dave Young is seventh with 246.0 IP.
