Fourth Annual Zippy Invitational Tournament Central
AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's golf team will conclude the fall portion of its schedule when the Zips play host to the Fourth Annual Zippy Invitational October 17-18 at Rosemont Country Club in Fairlawn, Ohio.
Akron returns home as the defending team champion of the Zippy Invitational and is coming off a second-place finish at the Mid-American Conference Preview on Oct. 11. Included in this year's field are MAC foes Bowling Green and Ohio, as well as Eastern Kentucky, Youngstown State, Cleveland State and Walsh.
One week ago, the Zips overcame an 11-shot deficit to force a playoff at the MAC Preview in Fishers, Ind. Akron eventually fell on the last putt of the extra hole to Toledo. Senior Kristen Hill was the low finisher for the Zips, carding a round of 77 (+5) to finish tied for seventh place (152, +8).
At last year's Zippy Invitational, the squad led wire-to-wire to post the program's first team title. Hill led the way for the Zips in the win, taking runner-up honors after posting a final-round 75 to finish with an 11-over 227 (79-73-75).
This year's event will cover two days, with 18 holes played each day. Play is set to begin on Monday at 10 a.m. ET with a shotgun start. The final round will start at 10 a.m. ET on Tuesday.
