Men's Golf Concludes Firestone Invitational Tied for Eighth

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men's golf team concluded The Firestone Invitational in a tie for eighth place on Tuesday at the par-72, 7,087-yard Firestone Country Club.
The Zips closed out the event with a three-round score of 872 (+8) following a final-round 296 (+8). Indiana and St. Mary's (Calif.) tied for the team title with scores of 10-under 854.
Sophomore Charlie Bull carded his fourth top-12 finish of the fall and seventh-consecutive top-16 finish dating back to the spring thanks to his three-round score of 6-under 210. He closed out the event with a final-round 69 (-3) to finish tied for third place.
Junior Cameron Simmons concluded the event with a score of 219 (+3) while freshman Harry Whittle was tied for 48th place with a tally of 222 (+6). Simmons posted a final-round 77 (+5) while Whittle had a score of 75 (+3).
Seniors Ryan Mason shot a round of 75 (+3) to finish in a tie for 51st place while fellow senior Scott Landreth carded a 77 (+5) to finish in a group tied for 59th place (225, +9).
Junior Tim Lew and senior Kevin Pikus, both playing as individuals, finished the day tied for 72nd and tied for 77th respectively. Lew posted a three-round score of 228 (+12) while Pikus ended the day with a tally of 230 (+14).
The Zips will conclude the fall schedule on Oct. 17 when they travel to Kettering, Ohio, for the UD Invitational.
