Women's Golf Wraps Up Day One in Cincinnati

Marked by a 26-stroke improvement, The University of Akron
women's golf team wrapped up the first day of the Cincinnati Fall
Classic in 11th place at Elks Run Golf Club Monday.
As a team, the Zips (336-310) shot 646 over two rounds among the
16-team field. Junior Kristen
Hill (84-70) led the charge for UA, firing 10-over par 154 to
claim a share of 15th place individually. Junior Amanda
Butler (82-78) followed with a 16-over par 160 for a tie for
36th place while junior Katie
Jenior (89-78) checked in at 23-over par 167 and a piece of
64th place.
Junior Tyler
Etcheberry (85-84=169) and freshman Sara
Chaves (85-85=170) rounded out the Zips' lineup. Whitney
Graff (84-87=171) competed as an individual.
Florida International (307-295=602) finished the day with a
one-stroke lead over Toledo (304-299=603) for first place. Penn
State (305-306=611) and host Cincinnati (308-305=613) will enter
Tuesday's final round in third and fourth place, respectively.
FIU's Cristina Marin (73-71) currently sits atop the leaderboard
with an even par 144.
The tournament's final round will get underway Tuesday with a
shotgun start, beginning at 8:30 a.m. (ET)
