Cross Country Readies For MAC Championship

Akron, Ohio - The University of Akron men's and
women's cross country teams are prepping for the 2010 Mid-American
Conference Cross Country Championships set to be held on Saturday,
Oct. 30, in Kalamazoo, Mich. Western Michigan University will host
the event.
The championships will begin with the women's 6,000-meter run at 11
a.m. ET, followed by the men's 8,000-meter run at Noon at the Pine
View Golf Club. The top men's and women's teams are crowned league
champion, while the top 15 individuals in each race are named
all-conference. The award ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
Last season, the Zips women's cross country placed third with 104 points, and the men placed eighth (197 points) in the championship meet which was held in Athens, Ohio.

Lorentz were second and third for UA whose times of 23:08.1 and
23:28.9 placed them 17th and 21st respectively. Leading the way for
the Akron men was current senior Joe
McCoy who completed the 8K race in sixth place with time of
26:06.2.
