Softball to Face St. Francis in Final Non-League Match-up

AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron softball team (29-21, 10-9 MAC) will face St. Francis Tuesday in its final non-league match-up of the 2009 season. The two teams will meet at Lee R. Jackson Field with the first pitch set for 3:00 p.m.
The Zips and Red Flash last met on April 10, 2008 going 1-1 against each other. Winning 3-2 in the first contest, UA fell 6-5 in the second.
Currently third in the Mid-American Conference East Division, Akron is coming off a 2-2 weekend against Ball State and Miami (Ohio) taking one from each. After falling 3-7 in eight innings of the first contest versus the Cardinals, the Zips rebounded in the second game of the doubleheader grabbing the 2-1 victory.
Facing the RedHawks on Saturday and Sunday, UA fell 6-1 in the
first contest but came back strong both defensively and offensively
in the Sunday match-up winning 6-5.
After Tuesday the Zips have just two regular-season contests remaining. Akron will face the Ohio University Bobcats at home on Saturday (2:00 p.m.) and Sunday (1:00 p.m.) before the Mid-American Conference tournament begins May 6 at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio.
