Women's Golf in 18th Place at Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational

The University of Akron women's golf team carded 316 strokes and
sit in 18th place after the second round of the Rio Verde
Collegiate Invitational Saturday in Rio Verde, Ariz.
Freshman Tyler Etcheberry improved her round-one score by
four strokes with a 75 Saturday to lead the way for the Zips. Her
two-day tally of 154 strokes is tied for 35th place individually
entering Sunday's final round.
Hanna Ek, who led the Zips with 73 strokes
Friday, currently sits in 41st place after carding 82 strokes
Saturday for a two-day count of 155 strokes. Kristen
Hill followed with 159 strokes after firing 79 Saturday and a
tie for 58th place in the field of more than 200 golfers.
Amanda Butler (85-80; 165) and Katie
Jenior (83-83; 166) rounded out the Akron lineup card.
The University of Kansas improved on its opening day lead by
carding 295 strokes as a team. With 589 strokes through two days,
the Jayhakws lead second-place Toledo (304-305; 609) by 20 strokes.
Minnesota (312-298; 610) and Arkansas-Little Rock (312-298; 610)
finished the day tied for third place.
Kansas' Meghan Gockel (73-72; 145) enters Sunday's final round with
a two-stroke lead over Arkansas-Little Rock's Sara Wikstrom (74-73;
147) for the individual title.
The 20-team event will conclude with Sunday with one more round of
play, starting at 11 a.m. (EST).
