Softball Readies for Last Tournament

Akron, Ohio-Zips softball will
head to Orlando, Fla. this week for the Rebel Spring Games. The
tournament is UA's last before they host their home opener against
Youngstown State at Lee Jackson Field on March 26th at 3:00
p.m.
Akron is coming off a 2-3 record at the Days Inn Invitational which
was held in Roanoke, Virginia. After winning a game against both
Pittsburgh (6-5) and Canisius (3-0) the Zips lost a contest against
each (Pittsburgh, 5-8) and (Canisius, 2-5) along with a loss to
tournament host James Madison University (2-5).
Offensively, UA has three players hitting above .300 including junior Lisa McLean who leads the team batting a .391, fellow junior Amber Lowe batting a .370 and senior Katrina Moffett, who is having a stellar year on both sides of the ball, is third for the Zips hitting a .353.
The Zips will play six games this week, two apiece from Wednesday to Friday with the full schedule listed below.
