Signee Garners Local Attention

AKRON, Ohio- University of Akron softball signee Alex Feltes (Rocky River, Ohio/Magnificat) continues to add to her impressive credentials as she prepares for her inagural season with the Zips. The recent Magnificat High School graduate was named the Cleveland Plain Dealer Player of the Year in Cuyahoga County.

Feltes closed her career with 23 school records, including 63 extra-base hits during her four-year career. As a senior, the third baseman hit .474 with seven doubles, five triples and six home runs. She drove in 40 runs and scored 35, while boasting a .944 fielding percentage. Magnificat finished the season with a 19-10 record. She is also a standout in the classroom with a 4.0 grade point average.

The Zips were 17-25 under first-year head coach Julie Jones, 7-11 in Mid-American Conference play.
