Byrne To Throw Out First Pitch For Racers

AKRON, Ohio - University of Akron head women's soccer coach Catherine Byrne will throw out the first pitch at the Akron Racers versus New York Juggernaut professional women's softball game Sunday. Game time is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. at Firestone Stadium.
Byrne's appearance comes as part of University of Akron Day at the venue. UA employees will receive a 50-percent discount on tickets by showing their university ID. Tickets are regularly priced at $7 apiece. For ticket information, contact the Racers box office at (330) 376-8188.
Akron's professional women's softball team plays in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) League and includes three members of the 2004 gold-medal winning U.S. Olympic Team. Third baseman Crystl Bustos, a two-time gold medalist, leads the NPF in home runs and RBI.
Byrne is in her fifth season at Akron, having built the program
from its inception in 2000.
