OXFORD, Ohio -- The Miami RedHawks took full advantage of a depleted Akron pitching staff and won the final game of the weekend series Sunday by a 27-9 count. The Zips lost their fifth straight game and fell to 12-33, 6-17 MAC. Over the four-game series, Miami roughed up Akron pitchers for 70 runs. The Zips plated 34 runs or an average of 8.5 per game, but it was far from enough to offset the RedHawks' offensive firepower.

Akron will entertain Pittsburgh Wednesday at Lee Jackson Field before hosting Bowling Green for a four-game series Friday through Sunday.
