Chippewas Sweep Past Zips Baseball

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. (April 1) -- After losing the first game of the weekend baseball series, Central Michigan rallied to take three straight Mid-American Conference games from the Akron Zips, including two on Sunday.

The Chippewas won the completion of Saturday's suspended by an 11-1 count and then pounded the Zips, 21-4, in Sunday's nine-inning finale. Akron won Game #1 on Friday, 6-4, but lost a scheduled seven-inning game, 8-7, in nine innings on Saturday in heartbreaking fashion.

Central raised its record to 15-10, 6-2 in the MAC. The Zips slipped to 4-14, 1-5 MAC. Akron plays a single nine inning game Wednesday at Duquesne and then hosts Otterbein Thursday at Canal Park at 7 p.m.
