1989-92
Outfielder
Jeff Rollyson was a four-year starter in the Zips outfield from 1989-92. He was selected All-Mid-Continent Conference his last three seasons.
During his debut season he earned the Outstanding Freshman Award, batting .333, second best on the team and having a team-leading 27 stolen bases in 32 tries while appearing in 46 of 48 games. Despite lingering leg problems that saw him miss 22 of 57 games, Rollyson earned second-team All-Mid-Continent honors in 1990 while batting .292, a team-high five home runs and stealing 19 bases in 21 attempts.
The 6-0, 180-lb. left fielder rebounded in 1991 with a .317 batting average and set UA season records that still stand today by scoring 73 runs and stealing 51 bases un 54 tries, both conference bests, to help UA compile a 38-21-1 record and capture the Mid-Continent Conference (MCC) crown. That was UA’s first of only two NCAA I baseball tittles in school history.
In addition, he batted a record-breaking five singles vs. Vermont, had a record-tying seven at bats vs. Mercer and a record-tying three doubles vs. William Jewel! Those records have yet to be surpassed. His performance earned him first team All-MCC in 1992 when he concluded his college career by helping the Zips win 42 of 60 games, batting .306, scoring a team-landing 71 runs, as well as, stealing 44 bases in 48 tries. That gave him a record-tying 204 runs and a record-breaking 140 stolen bases for his career-both marks that remain today.
After playing professionally for three seasons with Zanesville Greys, he returned to UA to earn his physical education degree. He has taught health and physical education and head baseball coach at Median High School. He earned Medina County Coach of the year in both 2006 and 2007 after guiding his teams to the regional championships for the first time in school history.
