Outfielder
Brian Petrucci posted an impressive.342 batting average that included six doubles, three triples average that included six doubles, three triples, and a home run as UA compiling a 29-25 record 1994.
He turned in a solid all- around performance as a sophomore batting a .326 batting average with 60 hits that included 14 doubles, three triples and six home run. He also tied an all- time UA record when he was hit by the pitcher, 16 times. Petrucci’s stats accumulated in 57 games, helped UA finish fourth in the Mid-American Conference, to earn a sport in the MAC Tournament with an 18-12 record, and have an overall mark of 36-22. He was dominating in 1996 as he led the Zips with a .395 batting average, 79 hits, 17 doubles, three triples, eight home runs, 53 runs, 57 runs batted in, 17 stolen bases, a .477 on base percentage and a .630 slugging percentage. The performance earned Petrucci first team All-MAC honors.
He was instrumental in UA compiling another winning record, 37-23, hat included winning the MAC Tournament for the first and only. It earned UA its second appearance in a NCAA I Regional Tournament where, loses to Southern California and Texas Tech eliminated the Zips.
In 1996, Petrucci received a berth on the MAC All-Tournament Team, and he was voted UA’s James Horrigan Male Athlete of the Year.
His senior campaign turned out to be a record, breaking season for Petrucci. While hitting for a career average of .420 to help UA to a 31-23 mark, he set and still holds the following records: 24 doubles, 36 extra base hits, .729 slugging percentage and, for his career, 61 doubles, 171 RBI, 402 total bases.
As a result, he repeated as UA’s MVP Awardee in 1997, became the only Zip [layer to earn first team All-MAC twice and he added first team All-Mideast Region honors, as well.
