Aaron Hutchison begins his first season as the volunteerassistant coach with the Akron baseball program in 2012-13.
Hutchison comes to Akron after serving as the assistant baseballcoach at Bluffton University in Bluffton, Ohio for the past twoyears. While at Bluffton, Hutchison assisted with daily practiceand instruction, recruiting, and fundraising. He also monitoredstudent-athlete academic progress and organized and promotedBluffton’s youth baseball camps.
Additionally, Hutchison served as an assistant coach at OhioElite Baseball in the summer of 2012.
Prior to Bluffton, Hutchison was coordinator for the EliteBaseball Showcase in Columbus, Ohio in 2009-10 and was an assistantfor the Licking County Settlers in Newark, Ohio in the summer of2010 where he served as hitting coach and coached first base. Healso coached for two summers in Sweden where he served as the headcoach of the Gefle Baseball Club.
His coaching experience also includes a season as a volunteerassistant with his alma mater, Otterbein University.
A native of Columbus, Hutchison attended Whitehall-Yearling HighSchool in Whitehall, Ohio, before making his mark on the baseballfield at Otterbein. He was a four-year letter winner for theCardinals, playing in the outfield and behind the plate.
Hutchison was named the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament MVPduring his junior campaign in 2007 and was a member of three OACchampionship teams while at Otterbein. In addition, he was anAll-OAC selection in 2007 and 2008 and was an Academic All-OACpick, while being named to the Dean’s List at Otterbein.
