as a Junior (2012): Outdoor... scored 16 points at the MAC Outdoor Championships with a runner-up finish in the shot put (56-08.75), a fourth-place finish in the discus (176-03) and a sixth-place finish in the hammer (185-06) ... recorded the top mark in the MAC (34th nationally) in the discus with a personal-record throw of 182-00 at the Triton Invitational (Apr. 28) ... broke two more personal records at the Northeast Ohio Quad (Apr. 13-14) with a mark of 193-05 in the hammer and a winning throw of 57-05.75 in the shot put, which was ranked second in the MAC ... at Mishawaka HS: City of Mishawaka declared June 15, 2009 "Nicholas Banke Day" for his accomplishments at Mishawaka HS ... ranked 15th in the nation in the discus, according to dyestat.com, and 89th nationally in the shot put ... was Mishawaka High School's first state state champion, winning the discus (179-2) ... also earned All-State in the shot put, placing sixth at the Illinois meet (56-6.50) ... was both the regional and sectional champion in the discus and shot put ... during the indoor season, was state runner-up in the shot put (57-2) ... set his school, conference, sectional and regional record holder in the discus, throwing a personal-record 192-0 at the regional meet ... also set his school's record in the shot with a personal-record throw of 58-7.50 ... earned All-State as a junior in the discus, placing seventh at the state meet ... also placed 13th in the shot at the state meet ... was a state finalist in the discus as a sophomore ... also played football, earning honorable mention All-State, and basketball.
