as a Freshman (2007): Appeared in 17 games ... assisted the game-winning goal in his first collegiate game, a 1-0 decision over UAB (Sept. 2) ... added another assist in a 4-0 win over St. Francis (Sept. 16) ... his first career goal helped the Zips edge Northern Illinois (2-1, 2OT) in the first round of the MAC Tournament (Nov. 16).
at Walsh Jesuit High School: Helped lead Walsh Jesuit to the Ohio Division II state title in 2006 with a 21-2 record ... earned NSCAA All-America honors ... Cleveland Plain Dealer Player of the Year ... recorded nine goals and a school-record 31 assists ... in the Warriors’ 2-0 win over Kettering Alter in the state title game, Nanchoff assisted on the game-winning score before putting home the second goal of the night ... first-team All-Ohio as a senior.
Personal: Parents are George and Marian Nanchoff ... has one brother, Georgie (25), and one sister, Nicole (22) ... both Georgie (Dayton) and Nicole (Duquesne) played soccer collegiately ... both his father, George, and his uncle, Louie, were four-year letter winners and a two-time All-Americans (George from 1975-76; Louie from 1976-77) at Akron and were slated to play for the 1980 Olympic soccer team (U.S. boycotted the Moscow Olympics that year in a political protest) ... George played professionally with the Cleveland Force from 1981-85 and alongside Louie from 1982-85 ... Michael played his club soccer with the five-time state champion Cleveland Internationals ... majoring in sport and exercise science.
