2004-05 JUNIOR: One of seven players to log time in all 29 games... Member of the starting five 19 times, and in 14 of 18 Mid-American Conference games... Scored a season-high 11 points against Ball State (Jan. 25), his only double-digit scoring outing of the season... Matched a career-high in rebounds, grabbing seven versus Eastern Michigan (Jan. 15)... That was one of four five boards or better outings for him... Led the team in rebounding once, with four caroms versus Ball State (Jan. 25)... Established a career-high in assists, having two dishes on three occasions (at Toledo/Jan. 6, versus Central Michigan/Jan. 22 and against Ball State/Jan. 25)... Snagged a career-best three steals at Marshall (Jan. 19)... Equaled his career-high in blocks twice, making three rejections versus Ohio (Jan. 2) and against Ball State (Jan. 25)... 22 blocks ranked second on the team, and his 0.76 blocks-per-game listed him 11th in the league... Season high of 24 minutes came against Toledo (Feb. 14).
2003-04 SOPHOMORE: Got the starting nod in 13 of 18 Mid-American Conference games... Also notched a start against Duquesne (Dec. 17)... Played in 27 of 28 games, with the exception being UA's MAC tournament first round game at Ball State (March 8)... Scored a career-high 14 points against Marshall (Feb. 2)... That was one of three double-digit scoring outputs for him... Also logged a career-best 30 minutes against the Thundering Herd... Had 10 points each at top-25 ranked North Carolina (Dec. 14) and at Cleveland State (Dec. 20)... Also pulled down five rebounds in the UNC matchup... Tallied eight points and five rebounds versus Duquesne (Dec. 17)... Then career-high seven caroms came at Hampton (Dec. 1)... Eleven blocks was second most on the team (Romeo Travis-25)... 2002-03 FRESHMAN: Sat out to fulfill academic requirements.
HIGH SCHOOL: Standout at Akron's Buchtel High School... Averaged 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks in his senior season (2002), when his team posted a 17-6 record... Two-time first-team all-city and All-Summitt County selection... McDonald's All-America nominee, first-team all-district and second-team all-state pick as a senior... Received an all-state honorable mention nod as a junior.
PERSONAL: Son of Sarah Futch... Born June 2, 1983... Has served as a coach for numerous youth clinics in the area... Joins teammates in regular trips to Akron's Children's Hospital... Sport and Exercise Science/Sport Management major.
