DAMBROT SIGNS 10-YEAR CONTRACT
We announced Friday that Keith Dambrot has signed a new 10-year contract to remain as our head coach of our Men’s Basketball program. In my three years at Akron, this is one of the announcements I am proudest to make. As an Akron native and two-time UA alumnus, he is the perfect fit for our program –– and together we made a statement by signing such a long-term agreement. July is an important month in the college basketball recruiting calendar, and all weekend the talk in the college basketball world (and with national media) was about Keith’s commitment to the Zips, and ours to him.
Please join me in congratulating Keith on this deal and thank him for his ongoing commitment to The University of Akron. As you know, that certainly isn’t always the case in our business. We’ve already heard from many Zips Basketball fans who are thrilled that Coach D will continue to pace our sideline for years to come!
UPCOMING MEN’S BASKETBALL EVENTS
You can see Coach Dambrot and his staff in person at the Men’s Basketball Summer Classic Golf Outing, set for Aug. 20 at Medina Country Club in Medina. This event is filling up fast, so sign up today if you want to play!
Also, we announced a travel package for our fans to go to Puerto Rico to watch our Men’s Basketball team in November, and have received a terrific response so far. Here’s the link to register.

For the third consecutive year, our Men’s Soccer program and FirstEnergy Stadium – Cub Cadet Field will be nationally televised on Fox Soccer Channel, as our match on Friday, Sept. 14 vs. St. John’s will air live at 7 p.m. ET (note the start time is 30 minutes earlier than normal for us when we’re at home).
The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) oversees this weekly television package and does a terrific job promoting the college game.
GOLF TEAMS ANNOUNCE 2012-13 SCHEDULES
Head coaches Jenny King and David Trainor of our Women’s and Men’s Golf programs, respectively, announced their competition schedules for this year.
