Senior nose tackle Cody Grice (Akron, Ohio) has been tabbed the Zips' Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by The University of Akron, Ohio's Polytechnic University.
In Akron's 52-9 win over Savannah State, Grice scored a career-high three touchdowns. The team captain and starting nose tackle came in at fullback, rushing five times for seven yards and three TDs. Defensively, Grice had two tackles, including a TFL for a loss of five yards.
Grice ranks No. 11 nationally this week in scoring (18.0) and No. 13 in points per game (6.0).
A starter at nose tackle in EVERY game of his collegiate career (39 and counting), Grice is the Zips' leading scorer with 18 points after three games. He's rushed on short-yardage plays six times for eight yards and three TDs. Defensively, Grice has seven tackles, including 2.0 TFL.
