Hannah Plybon - Women's Basketball
AKRON, Ohio - Senior Hannah Plybon (Orrville, Ohio) was named the Zips’ Student Athlete of the Week, presented by the University of Akron, on Nov. 21.
Plybon turned in a dominating week for the Zips averaging a team-best 30.5 points as Akron went 1-1 in a pair of road tilts at Penn State and Canisius
Plybon began her week scoring a team-high 22 points, including make four three pointers in an 84-71 setback at Penn State on Nov. 16. She connected on nine of her 21 attempts in the affair, while pulling down five rebounds.
In Akron's 73-64 triumph at Canisius on Sunday, Nov. 20, Plybon poured in a career-high 39 points, including making a school-record nine triples. Her 39-point explosion marked the second-best single-game scoring output in school history.
She finished one three pointer shy of equaling the MAC single-game record for triples of 10 held by Tavelyn James (Eastern Michigan), Marlene Stollings (Ohio) and Kiyana Black (Ohio).
Plybon shot better than 57 percent (.571) from the field making 12 of her 21 attempts against the Golden Griffs. From beyond the arc, she made 64.3 percent of her shots, going 9-for-14 from distance, while also pulling down six rebounds and dishing out a pair of assists.
On the season, Plybon is averaging a team-high 27.0 points per game, while pulling down 4.7 rebounds per contest. She is shooting 46.3 percent from the field and has connected on 48.3 percent of her shots from distance.
