Kaminski Earns BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week Honors, O'Rourke Named to Weekly Honor Roll

NEW YORK, N.Y. — Brett Kaminski has been named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week, and Thomas O'Rourke earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
Both players were major contributors during the Zips' two victories over No. 18 Cornell and Saint Louis during the week. Facing a penalty kick in the final minute against the Billikens with a 2-1 lead, the junior came up with a clutch save and then saved another shot attempt with eight seconds left to preserve the victory in an NCAA Quarterfinal rematch from last season.
Against No. 18 Cornell, Kaminski made a huge diving save attempt off a Big Red header — his lone save of the night — that kept the score at 2-2, helping set the stage for Akron's late game-winner.
In the same match, O'Rourke scored in the 55th minute to tie the score at 2-2 which was his first goal of the season. Then with 59 seconds left, O'Rourke assisted on Leo Morana's game-winning goal. Later in the week on the road against Saint Louis in an NCAA Quarterfinal rematch from last season, the redshirt sophomore delivered by assisting on Jack Roman's game-winning goal in the 84th minute. So far this season, O'Rourke leads the Zips in assists (3) and points (5).
The Zips will face Butler in their BIG EAST opener on Friday, September 18 at 7 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium.
