Dreas Named to 2026 Hermann Trophy Watch List

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - University of Akron senior midfielder men's soccer Matt Dreas (Covington, Ky.) was selected to the 2026 Missouri Athletic Club's (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch List on Friday (Aug. 7).

Dreas is one of 32 midfielders in contention for the MAC Hermann Trophy, which is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by the voting of Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches.

In 2025, Dreas was a second team United Soccer Coaches All-East Region recipient and second team All-BIG EAST selection. He started all 21 matches for Akron as the Zips advanced to the Quarterfinal Round of the NCAA Tournament. He netted one goal and tallied one assist, totaling three points for the Blue and Gold. Dreas was key contributor in the midfield unit that limited opponents to 0.71 goals per game.

The 2026 watch list was compiled by members of the Division I Men's All-America Council from a list of returning 2025 All-Americans and First Team All-Region players. A total of 15 players will be named 2026 Hermann Trophy semifinalists in December at the conclusion of NCAA Division I All-American voting. From that list, head coaches will cast votes, and three players will be named finalists. The 2026 recipient will be announced in January, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis, Mo.
