AKRON, Ohio -Â Student-athletes at the University of Akron combined to achieve a department-wide grade point average of 3.268 in the spring 2026 semester as part of an impressive overall GPA of 3.235 for the 2025-26 academic year.
Collectively, Akron student-athletes own a cumulative departmental GPA of 3.314, with more than 68 percent of Zips maintaining an individual cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better at Akron.

The Zips registered 137 Academic All-Mid-American Conference selections across its 14 MAC-sponsored teams for the 2025-26 academic year.

Akron had 23 student-athletes honored with the MAC President's Award, along with 72 and 67 Zips named to the MAC Commissioner's Honor Roll and MAC Honor Roll, respectively.

For the spring semester of 2026, 13 of 16 Akron athletics teams achieved a semester grade point average of 3.00 or higher, led by women's swimming and diving earning a program-best 3.676 team GPA for the semester. Additionally, women's soccer (3.644), softball (3.622), women's cross country (3.61), lacrosse (3.59), rifle (3.49), men's soccer (3.482), golf (3.451), women's basketball (3.322), volleyball (3.26), baseball (3.216), women's track and field (3.09) and men's track and field (3.045) each surpassed the 3.00 team GPA threshold registering marks.

For the 2025-26 academic year, 13 of the Zips' 16 squads garnered a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better, paced by a department-best 3.679 GPA from women's soccer. Additionally, swimming and diving (3.663), softball (3.622), lacrosse (3.545), women's cross country (3.54), rifle (3.535), golf (3.452), women's basketball (3.323), men's soccer (3.30), baseball (3.263), volleyball (3.194), women's track and field (3.138), and men's track and field (3.114) registered a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better.

The excellence of the Zips in their academic studies was on display as nearly 72 percent of Akron's student-athletes, 297 of 415, earned an individual GPA for the term of 3.0 or better, while more than 60 percent garnered a GPA of 3.50 or higher. On the year, more than 64 percent, 306 of Akron's 476 student-athletes, posted a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, with more than 42 percent registering a GPA of 3.50 or higher.

Forty-seven of the Zips' student-athletes garnered a perfect 4.0 GPA for the spring semester, including lacrosse (8), women's track and field (7), men's soccer (5), women's soccer (5), softball (4), swimming and diving (4), women's cross country (4), football (3), rifle (3), baseball (2), women's basketball (1) and volleyball (1). For the academic year, 32 Zips owned a 4.0 cumulative GPA, with 14 student-athletes carrying an unblemished GPA overall at Akron.

Football paced the combined list with 41 Zips earning between a 3.0-3.99 for the spring semester and 44 for the 2025-26 academic year. They were followed by lacrosse (24/25), baseball (23/24), swimming and diving (22/25), women's soccer (21/26), men's track and field (21/21), men's soccer (17/20), softball (17/18), women's track and field (13/19), volleyball (12/11), men's basketball (10/8), women's basketball (9/9), rifle (8/10), golf (6/6), men's cross country (3/4) and women's cross country (3/4).
