Hipple's School Record Sparks Friday Performances for Akron

AKRON, Ohio – University of Akron junior Megan Hipple (Warren, Ohio) ran a school- and meet-record time to win the women's 5,000 meters to headline the efforts of the Zips at the Jim Green Invitational and Jesse Owens Classic on Friday (May 1).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Hipple ran a school- and meet-record time of 16:05.46 to win the women's 5,000 meters at the Jesse Owens Classic.
• Redshirt senior Gabrielle Griffiths (Fort Worth, Texas) placed second in the women's hammer with a throw of 194-4 (59.24m).
• Redshirt senior Cassidy Allen (Lakewood, N.Y.) finished third in the women's pole vault with a clearance of 13-5.25 (4.10m).
• Redshirt senior Lane Graham (Killbuck, Ohio) registered a mark of 215-10 (65.79m) to place third in the elite hammer at the Jim Green Invitational.
