PITTSBURGH, PA --The Akron Zips fell to the Pittsburgh Panthers 13-2 on Wednesday.
Akron was led by Easton Amundson's 2-for-4 day, resulting in a home run, one run scored and one RBI.
Landon Vandegrift (1-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Akron (16-21). Â Taylor Bednar was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out one.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips were trailing 3-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Tucker Biehl came across to score the lone run of the inning for Akron and get them on the board.
The Panthers expanded their lead to 8-1 before the Zips offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the third. Easton Amundson came across to score the lone run of the inning for Akron on a solo home run. The Zips were unable to get any closer, as Pittsburgh added five runs to their tally on the way to a 13-2 final.
