Zips Rally Down 10-2 to Defeat UMass 18-17

AKRON, Ohio - Down 10-2 going in to the bottom fo the fourth, the Akron baseball team scored 16 runs to take down the UMass Minutemen 18-17 on Sunday.
Henry Hayman led the offense with four hits, which included a home run and three RBI. Brody Chrisman racked up three hits, three runs and two RBI. Gabe Mathison recorded two runs, two hits and four RBI against the Minutemen, while Atticus Huffstutler had three hits in the win with one RBI.Â
Taylor Bednar (1-2) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Akron (9-10, 3-3). The right-hander went 4.2 innings, giving up five runs, all of them earned, on five hits, allowing three walks and striking out two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips scored in seven different innings on the way to the win. Akron broke a 10-10 tie and took the lead for good at 11-10 in the fifth inning on a Mathison walk from Brandon Wingenroth that scored Hayman.
